Another Class of '56 luncheon is in the books and those who attended on Monday, May 11 at First Baptist Church had plenty of time for catching up and a leisurely meal. We had 33 in attendance and missed those seven who could not join us. The meal of barbecue, green beans, potatoes, salad, hush puppies and peach cobbler hit the spot. Thanks to Marty Kellam, the chef, for doing such a good job in preparing our meal.

John Mobley had a few announcements and recognized Luke Glascock, the new Chairman of the reunion committee. Many may not be aware that John has stepped down from heading up the reunion committee and Luke has been good enough to step in and spearhead the committee efforts toward a 60th reunion in June of 2016. He announced the next phase of the committee is to circulate a survey (survey located on left side of this site) and to see how many of our classmates really want to have a 60th reunion before more detailed planning is undertaken. Luke also commended John for his efforts in organizing our semi-annual luncheons.

Suzanne Steinert gave a financial report and Marie Harrill reminded everyone of our Class of '56 Scholarship. The scholarship has been increased from $1,000 to $1,200 this year and goes to a worthy Grimsley student. Check out the scholarship news and information on the left of this site. It was really good to see everyone at the luncheon and we look forward to the Fall affair on the second Monday in November. It is always good to see friends from our bygone high school days and renew relationships.

Have a SAFE and HAPPY SUMMER!
